Feline Health and Wellness Care

Your Cat’s Health and Wellness is Important to Us!

We take pride in offering the very best feline health care and health management. We treat all ages of cats, from kittens to senior cats, and all types of cat breeds. First, we know that cats are not small dogs and that cats have unique health needs.  Just like dogs and exotic animals, our approach to feline veterinary care centers around regular wellness exams as soon as you get your kitten or cat.  These comprehensive exams give us the ability to help you maintain your cat’s good health through vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, diagnostic care and disease treatment.  We recommend either annual or bi-annual wellness exams depending upon your cat’s age and health status.   These exams are also important for us to listen to your concerns about your cat’s health and for us to help you make the best health choices for your cat.  Whether your cat is an indoor cat, outdoor cat or enjoys both inside and outside, your cat will benefit from regular veterinary visits with us.

Kittens, Adult Cats and Senior Cat Care

Regular Check-ups: Just like humans, cats should have regular check-ups with a veterinarian. These visits typically occur annually but may be more frequent for kittens, senior cats, or cats with specific health concerns.

Vaccinations: Cats require core vaccinations to protect them from common diseases. These include Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Panleukopenia, Calicivirus (FVRCP) and rabies. We also recommend the Feline Leukemia (FeLV) vaccine.  Your veterinarian will recommend a vaccination schedule based on your cat’s age and lifestyle.

FeLV/FIV Testing:  All kittens should be tested for FeLV/FIV prior to being vaccinated to ensure negative status. We recommend that all outdoor cats be tested annually for FeLV/FIV.

Spaying/Neutering: We recommend spaying or neutering to prevent unwanted litters and for health benefits.

Parasite Control: Regular treatment for parasites like fleas, ticks, and worms is crucial for your cat’s health.

Blood Tests: Periodic blood tests can help catch underlying health issues early, especially in older cats.

Dental Care: Dental health is often overlooked in cats but important. We will advise you on the dental care that would benefit your cat’s health, including teeth cleaning.

Nutrition: Your vet can help you choose the right diet for your cat’s age, size, and health condition. Proper nutrition is vital for your dog’s overall health.

Behavioral Consultation: We can offer guidance to you on any behavior issues your cat may be exhibiting, such as scratching, inappropriate elimination, litter box problems or aggression.

Microchipping: Microchipping is a permanent form of identification that can help locate your cat if they ever get lost.

Senior Care: As cats age, they may require more specialized care, including monitoring for age-related health issues and modifications to their diet and exercise routine.
